Vienna, Austria – December 6, 2025 The Filipino spirit of Christmas—marked by music, dance, faith, and togetherness—shone brightly across Austria this past weekend as various Filipino groups and associations held their annual celebrations. From Vienna to Linz and Carinthia, communities gathered to share the warmth of the season, blending cherished traditions from the Philippines with the cultural richness of their Austrian home.

Vienna: A City Alive with Filipino Festivity

On Saturday alone, several Filipino organizations in Vienna hosted their own Christmas gatherings.

The Pandan Association in Austria, the Edabem Foundation, and other religious groups welcomed members and friends to evenings filled with laughter, food, and fellowship.
The Ilonggo community celebrated with vibrant songs and dances, bringing the joyful rhythms of the Visayas to the Austrian capital. Their program was graced by Consul General Zoilo Velasco of the Philippine Embassy, who shared words of encouragement and highlighted the importance of unity among Filipinos abroad.

Linz: A Celebration of Community and Diplomacy

In Linz, the Philippine-Austrian Association gathered for a festive program that underscored the strength of Filipino-Austrian ties.

The event was honored by the presence of Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo-Bernas, who conveyed heartfelt Christmas greetings and emphasized the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Austria.
Also in attendance was Delmer Cruz, Regional Head of the Department of Migrant Workers, who recognized the contributions of overseas Filipinos and their role in fostering cultural exchange. The Linz celebration was a testament to how Christmas becomes not only a family affair but also a bridge between nations.

Carinthia: Cultural Dances and Austrian Friendship

Further south, the Philippine-Austrian Community in Carinthia marked the season with a program rich in cultural performances.

The presence of Austrian friends highlighted the inclusivity of the celebration, showing how Filipino traditions can inspire joy and connection across cultures.
